First we talk
In our conversation, we will discuss the story behind your piece. As we discuss your idea for a piece – size and colour palette recommendations can be made by you. But keep in mind, for me to create the best piece I can for you, I need to maintain creative control.
Our relationship works best when you give me the most creative freedom and flexibility as possible in the style I paint in. Please keep in mind though it is best not expect me to re-create what’s in your head, as these kinds of expectations can lead to disappointment.
If at the end of our conversation, we’ve determined that we’ll be a good fit, I will give you a quote either by email or in person and ask for your approval to move forward.
Upon approval, I will send you a contract to sign and return to me along with a 50% deposit. The contract will outline the timeline, any milestone payments required and deadlines. It will also outline more specific terms like how the sketch phase works, how many revisions are allowed before penalties are incurred, if there is a rush order, etc. All details will be determined during our conversation.
Please contact me via my contact page to discuss.
After the contract is signed and we are ready to work together, I will want to discover more about you and the story you would like to portray through the piece. More questions will be asked and during this time I ask for complete honesty and authenticity.
Before I begin painting your piece I will show you a sketched concept and tell you my vision for the piece. During this meeting, I will ask for your decision and approval before I begin painting.
I will now get hard to work on creating your artwork. Once paint meets canvas there are no refunds. There might days or weeks where you don’t hear from me. Don’t worry, I am working hard on your painting. I will keep in touch with you periodically letting you know how the piece is progressing. If there is a deadline in our contract, I will meet it.
Once the piece is completed, payment of the outstanding balance owing is required before your artwork is shipped. Once payment is received I will have your piece either hand delivered (if within the Calgary area) or shipped to you at cost using a reputable courier.
When the piece is delivered, it will have a Certificate of Authenticity hand-signed by me. This certificate verifies it is an original Gary Sutton piece. A one-of-a-kind artwork that will only have repoductions upon your consent. Also included is a document that outlines the story behind the piece of art.
If you are interested in working with me on a commissioned piece, please contact me via my contact page.
